CURRICULA
Goal
The purpose of this Ph.D. program is to cultivate high-level Austronesian cultural research talents, so that graduate students have rigorous training in knowledge and methods, and use this as the foundation of studying Austronesian culture. The curriculum planning for cultivating Ph.D. students includes the development of academic professional ability, professional field writing, fieldwork, overseas academic exchanges, and participation in teaching and research projects. The aim of this program is to train scholars who have both professional academic research ability and social practice ability.

- Compulsory courses:
A total of 9 credits in three subjects, including Anthropological Theories, Comparative Study of World Austronesian cultures, Research Methods.
- Elective courses:
A total of 15 credits, in addition to this doctoral course, courses taken from other doctoral programs in Taitung University, or from other universities, can also be counted as elective course credits.
- Credit waiving:
- Compulsory credits: One who has taken relevant English-taught doctoral courses in domestic and foreign universities recognized by the Ministry of Education can submit one’s course transcripts and syllabus to apply for credit waiving for this doctoral course.
- Elective credits: One who has taken relevant doctoral courses in domestic and foreign universities recognized by the Ministry of Education can submit one’s course transcripts and syllabus to apply for credit waiving for the doctoral courses.
- A total of the above two items, no more than two courses or 6 credits.

- The Ph.D. dissertation is a compulsory course and does not count for credits.
- The academic research ethics education course is compulsory. The credits are 0. Students must take the designated courses on the online platform of the "Taiwan Academic Ethics Education Resource Center" before the review of the dissertation plan, and pass the general test scores of the course. The certificate of taking courses can be obtained online.
