My research interests involve in ecological anthropology, economic anthropology, sensory ethnography, and kinship studies. My main research concern is to focus on the relationship among environment, social structure, and cultural practices in indigenous society in Taiwan. I look at the exploration of the implications of capitalism and neo-liberal global economics for Taiwanese indigenous society. On the other hand, I will look at how kinship practices, gender relations, and household economics involved in indigenous people’s reaction to economic and political transformation. In this decade, I also engage in studies of cultural heritage management and historical house renovation in indigenous societies. By the combination of the sensory ethnography and humanity GIS, I initiate ‘soundscape mapping research’ in indigenous communities in order to record and analyses the characteristics of the sonic environment in their everyday life.
